The Red Hart Inn
Pub / Restaurant / Eatery in or near Newnham

The history of this cosy traditional free house goes back to 1483. The charming interior includes historic features such as flagstone floors, stone fireplaces, and an illuminated original working well.  It’s the kind of atmospheric place where one quick post-walk pint of Butcombe Ale, Bitter or Cider, could turn into a lengthy stay involving a meal. The setting  is ideal for those simply seeking a relaxing, attractive place to eat and try a locally sourced menu cooked by qualified chefs from fresh raw ingredients.

Called with my wife and son having noticed a sign on the main road. The pub is situated in quintessentially English countryside. Two miles off the main road yet has an air of being miles from the hustle and bustle. Very friendly service and a range of dishes at reasonable prices. Inside is the deepest well I have seen inside any building. The pub is in easy walking distance of the Severn. The business was closed for refurbishment and many former custmoers don't seem to have realised that it has reopened. Get there before the crowds!
