Have a go rural skills day - 25th Aug 2008
Bring the whole family along for a rare chance to learn and try out a range of unusual skills and try your hand at traditional crafts. You can have a go at woodcut-printing, rag rug-making, or felt-making. Learn about the historic art of falconry and see birds of prey in action.
This is also the first opportunity for visitors to meet Lou Tonkin, the new artist-in-residence at the Dean Heritage Centre, who will be making peg dolls and displaying her textile-based work.
All this will take place alongside our traditional charcoal burn and pole lathe turning in the woodland workshops on our five-acre site in Soudley.
